Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Schedule for 2021

The Tokyo Paralympics 2021 (of 2020) is the upcoming major international multi sports event for athletes with disabilities.

Earlier it was scheduled to take place between 25 August and 6 September 2020 but due to the uprising corona virus pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo Organizing Committee officially declared that the 2020 Summer Paralympics will be postponed to 2021.

Now it is scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan between 24 August and 5 September 2021. But the name is still kept 2020 Summer Paralympics for the marketing and branding purpose.

Tokyo Paralympics will feature a total number of 22 sports with 550 events with badminton and taekwondo included for the first time.

The 2020 Summer Paralympics will go on across 42 venues in Japan.

Are the 2020 Paralympics rescheduled for 2021?

Yes, the 2020 Summer Paralympic are rescheduled. On 30th March, the IOC (International Olympic Committee), Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) confirmed that the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 will held between 24th August to 5th September.

  1. I have been somewhat disappointed with NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. For example, the Canadians came in THIRD in rowing and they were the only ones talked about or shown winning their Bronze medals. I sure hope that the Paralympics will show better sportsmanship and clearly announce the participants, whether from North America or not. I also hope we will get to watch the exciting Paralympics on TV this year. What can you tell me about the televisual arrangements made so we can all enjoy the high level of athletics from these challenging games. Perhaps it will be shown on my computer or through a streaming service if not on TV. I wish the best for every participant. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL!
